ArtsForChange Competition Winner To Emerge January 26
Black & White Ideas, organisers of Nigeria’s foremost art talent search competition, ArtsForChange, will unveil the winner of the 2022 edition on January 26th.
The unveiling and prize presentation ceremony will hold at Freedom Park, Old Prison Ground, Broad Street, Lagos from 11:00 am prompt.
The disclosure was made in a statement released to the press on Sunday by organisers of the competition.
According to the statement, the competition which is organised in conjunction with the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), and with the support of leading financial institution, First Bank Nigeria Limited will climax with the winner carting home the star prize of 500,000 Naira.
Furthermore, the statement which was signed by Mr. Titiloye Amzat, stated that the winner will emerge after weeks of rigorous work by the judges of the competition namely Steve Ayorinde, a cultured journalist and former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture in Lagos State, Oliver Enwonwu, a renowned visual artist, Halima Abubakar, a freelance documentary photographer, and Mufu Onifade the inventor of the Araism painting technique.
“When we unveiled our team of judges, the arts industry in Nigeria, and indeed Africa, acknowledged the fact that they were some of the best around.
“Indeed, they have not failed us, as they have done a good job of picking the
best entries with a focus on adherence to the theme of the competition which is; ‘Nigeria: Stronger Together’, originality, creativity, and beauty of the work.
“They did a tremendous job of ensuring only the entries that met the requirements were picked on the road to the finals. The selection process was very objective and transparent.
“The winner of the competition when unveiled later this month will go home with 500, 000 Naira, while others will win consolation prizes and certificates of participation all to be presented in Lagos by the Director General of NCAC, Otunba Segun Runsewe,” the statement concluded.
ArtsForChange is a competition that is popular for encouraging artists of all manners to show their creative side in a bid to unearth and promote young and yet unknown talents in the country.
The 2022 edition witnessed the submission of over 500 entries from six zones of the country namely North West, North East, North Central, South-South, South East, and South West.
In the second round, the judges picked 10 entries from the load of entries out of which the winning entry was selected.
